Passage to Chapter Invisible:

Crown Hill Cemetery is the third largest, non-government cemetery in the United States.  One of the most historically significant sites in Indiana, Crown Hill is the burial site of President Benjamin Harrison, Colonel Eli Lilly, 11 Indiana Governors, 1 Kentucky Governor, 14 Indiana Mayors, and 13 Civil War Generals. It was listed on The National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

While obviously significant in the history of Indiana, Crown Hill is equally important to the history of the Fraternity as it is the burial site of several prominent members of the fraternity – among them three Founders and three Laurel Wreath Laureates.

  • Elder Watson Diggs – Founder, 1st Grand Polemarch, 1st Laurel Wreath Laureate
  • Ezra D. Alexander – Founder, Grand Board of Directors
  • Guy L. Grant – Founder, Grand Historian Emeritus
  • Irven Armstrong – 1st initiate into the fraternity, 2nd Grand Polemarch, Laurel Wreath Laureate
  • Lionel F. Artis – 1st permanent Kappa Alpha Psi Journal editor, Laurel Wreath Laureate
